my hobbies other than the bike

Post by Floydian »

Hi ,
Just thought id give a bit of info of my interests and hobbies ( haha plural!) I used to love the peace and tranquility of the riverbank . I used to fish but it was more the sitting somewhere nice and peaceful than catching fish, id have happily sat on a chair just chilling out but id look like a bit of a freak sat in a field on a chair on my own but put a rod at the side of you and nobody looks twice . But dont get much chance to do that anymore :( .
My true love is music , any kind really but if i had to pick one it would have to be the floyd \m/
i own my own music stuff and attempt to make music myself .
ive got a few tracks that ive stuck on you tube , i'll stick some links on in a bit .
ive had a go at doing video's to them but my passion is the music , most stuff ive done is instrumental as i dont like my own voice haha [-x
anyway heres the links.

Very impressive Andy :-bd

I like to mess about on the guitar, but have never produced anything as good as what you've done. ^:)^

I've got all the equipment to TRY and emulate a production like you have done,

6 string acoustic x2. (one is my 12 yr old sons)
12 string acoustic.
Bass guitar, my son's.
Yamaha keyboard, my son's.
Harmonica.
Full drum kit.
Violin, my son's.
Zoom effects box.
Ipad for mixing.

What I am lacking in though is simple, talent. :))

Nice gear, sorry to hear about maritals - same happen to me big time. I got seymour duncans in my overwater 6, they are like melted chocolate. Tried a Vintage GG signature acoustic in Ivor Mairants the other day - absolutely unbelievable for the price. I don't know why I did that - now I'll just feel bad till i can afford to buy one ( if ever) I stopped test riding bikes for the same reason.

keep em comin

Well thanks for he compliments guys, glad you liked em or if you didnt at least you gave em a try so thanks for that :good:
My personal fav is "something more" probably coz its soo floydish then its flesh and blood.
Jelly , i just start playing and see where it gets me , sometimes its crap but some good comes sooner or later and then its all in the mixing to get the right sound , just keep , even if its basic blues , just work on the production side as apposed to the recording.

you need a really fast computer to do recording on . if you think about it when you record ,say the drums first and you want a
bass line going on it , the pc's gotta play the drums so you can hear it to play along with and so your gonna play the bass that means the pc's gotta record what your playing at the same time as the drums so they are all in sync when its played back but the thing is , the pc has already played the drums for you to hear it . so it takes alot of power from the possessor , and when you start getting a few instruments on it can start to chug abit , which really isnt what you need when your recording . personally i prefer a dedicated recorder , there are loads on the market , some better than others , but my personal taste is the boss br range , you could probably pick up a br ( one of the smaller ones) for pretty cheap now and there's plenty of tracks in there as you get virtual tracks as well as the basic 8 ( i think you get 80 altogether but im not 100% on that).
but that's just my preference , if your gonna do recordings on a pc i suggest you get a good external sound card to go through.
hope that's helpful , defo food for thought

Dedicated recording machine. =)) =)) =))

Yeah right, as soon as I can afford the oil and filter and to get my bike MOT'd it'll be sold. (Finances dictate it has to go)

I certainly ain't in the market for BUYING stuff at the moment.

Since we're in this mode, signed up with a local am-dram group in a staging of The Producers. Great fun it is and in the worst possible taste.

This is the scene we're rehearsing tomorrow evening. I'm one of the downtrodden accountants in the background.

What brought this post was that a "corporate type" with too little to do suggested that our team should have a song. I gave him a rendering of the accountants' chorus, which for some odd reason he didn't appreciate. Strange that..... and he's never brought up the subject again. :))

Just listened to these and think they're very good. I can here the floyd influence in there and that's not criticism in any way.
