My bike is a P plated 1996

Is this considered an earlier model? I though they were M reg or so?

It's difficult to accurately date RFs by their registration prefix. Some later reg's have been found to be old stock. Same with the colour scheme if it's been seriously pranged.

Generally, if it's got the slidey bracket type rear caliper and 'simple' forks it's an 'R' or an 'S' model. Torque arm rear caliper and multi adjustable forks mean it's a 'T' onwards.

However, some folk have upgraded the fork legs on older models, while a couple of us have fitted the earlier type swinging arm and rear caliper to later models.

When you've got the bike stripped for a frame paint, and you've got both types of swinging arm lying about, you could end up cleaning and fitting the wrong one by mistake ........ I guess :-??

I prefer the older type of caliper for ease of servicing, and the retaining bracket makes it slightly easier refitting the rear wheel single handed I've found :thumleft:
