Stick 'Pink wire' into the search facility on this site and see what you come up with. A lots been said about already.

I tried. It said:

"The following words in your search query were ignored because they are too common words: pink wire.
You must specify at least one word to search for. Each word must consist of at least 3 characters and must not contain more than 14 characters excluding wildcards."

*Facepalm*

I even tried it with quotes around it. Failboat, too.

I understand the concept this is illustrating, but I'm confused as to what that has to do with the pink wire.

Oh and the pink wire is the one under the seat, right?... I'm now doubting that the wire I cut was the correct one...

Yep, if the words or phrase have been used a lot it seems to confuse 'search', I was looking for something the other day that had too many references for it to pick just one. C'est la vie :)

That's the neutral/gear position switch on the end of the shift drum. There's a blue wire for the neutral light and a pink one for the gear positions. You don't have to cut the pink wire, there's a connector under the left front seat panel near the fuel tap - just pull it apart, the 'live' end is shrouded.

There's only one pink wire on an RF :thumleft:

Awesome. Well, I just clean cut the pink wire because I don't mind splicing it back together later if I have to... I got lazy...

being new to the forum i was unaware of the big issue about this pink wire...

so i looked at my bike and has been disconnected - i cannot see where it would re-connect to if i want to though.

now i cannot assess the effect of cutting the pink

Don't worry Dave, it wasn't connected on the early models but the harness is pretty much common across the years.
