Our club open day was a great success even with a low turnout.

Two chaps from the local Uni were flying their drone which was a two man operation.
The pilot had to have a licence to fly it and the other chappy was the camera man.

A little video of the day has just come up and I come at 1.18

So that's you racing by with the rainbow coloured sail? Or is it the gay pride emblem? ;))

Cracking little video that, great use of the drone. :-bd

Ollie, are you still sailing? Do you still have the cat?

Made it to 200 miles short of yachtmaster and then I stopped sailing for a bit. Life got in the way. Not forgotten you fancy crewing by the way.

Yep still got the cat but I this will, definately, be the last season on it.
Due to a recurring back problem it isn't comfortable to sail for any period of time.

Probably going to chop it in for a Solo or another, similar, single hander with high gunwhales.

I am still doing the odd bit of teaching off the East coast and my next visit, there, is in May.

Ollie,
During my 25 year hiatus from 2 wheel madness I too found sailing. I had 2 trimarans and a 24' cat. I raced on a 36' cat that could do 25 knots ( almost 30 mph. for the landlubbers :)) ) Once hooked on the speed of a multihull it's hard to go back to 4knots in a mono!!
Good fun and sounds like you have lots of options for where to sail.
I seem to recall that there are lots of rules over there when it comes to sailing. Like having to be certified , and only being able to sail on certain days of the week at some of the lakes.
Nice to be on a Suzuki again!! 1996 RF on it's way to be my long distance tourer!
2012 Speed TripleR for the hooligan in me!

It is true some inland lakes don't allow sailing after dusk or if there is no safety cover.
The boat club I am a member of had a death on the lake one Wednesday afternoon and they weren't found until the next day when the alarm went up.
It was a heart attack so nothing to do with being bashed on the head or stuff like that.

The club comititee had a bit of an initial meltdown and banned anyone going on the lake without safety cover.

After we all complained about, the HSE said we were working within RYA guidelines and the insurance company had no worries about it we all went back to normal.

As for sea or coastal sailing. We are all bound by the IMO rules (COLREG's) although over here you can take out any old vessel without any kind of qualifications or experience and hope for the best.

Ollie, the whole idea of getting the mirror was for me to learn to sail. Fancy teaching me?
