Bike of the Month - September 2009 - RIZLA'S RF900

How did I become a rf900 owner?

it all began back in the glorious summer of 1976. Just left school waiting to start my apprenticeship, got my first bike a YAMAHA FSIE. That summer I was HOOKED sun, freedom, and around ten of us flat on the tank everywhere! What a great little machine.

Next bike YAMAHA RD250, again flat out everywhere, mine did 95mph everyone else's did 110mph, or so they said!!.

Next along YAMAHA XS 400 FOUR STROKE. (must have landed on my head on one of my many spills). Sanity regained - up next SUZUKI GS 750 – a great bike, which I kept for many years.

After that……..ball and chain fitted and concrete boots (wife/house) with only a HONDA 250 trial for green lane’ing. Fast forward now, the years of drudgery, my rebirth starting gently with KAWASAKI GPZ 500 - good little bike to build up my insurance.

After a year I was looking on ebay when I saw the RIZLA (OOH) - put a bid in after a few beers and there we have it. I went to Sunderland to pick her up. Didn’t know much about the bike, But once I got on WHAAAHOOOO!!!..........what a bike.

The paint job was done by aftershock, and, to date the bike has not been touched, just ridden around with me and my big grin.

Hope you enjoy the pics…………………….Kevin

I must be honest and say when Kev first posted the pics, I didn't know if I like it or not but when I saw it in Scarborough, it looks so much nicer in real life

Lovely colour on the wheels, you need a race can with that paint job (come on - you know it makes sense)
