RF OWNERS CLUB

Hi all,
A little while ago I took on the job of Ladies football team manager, but that story is for the newsletter.

As our team has a charter standard we were offered 20 free tickets to go and see England ladies Vs USA ladies at Leyton Orient last night. I punted these tickets around the various girls & ladies players and a bunch of us went on a tube ride to the ground.

I have to say that this was my first proper stadium match and the atmosphere was awesome.
England came out strong and popped in their first goal within 5 minutes. Another followed at 20 minutes but after half an hour England started to loose the plot. USA got a goal back mintues before the end of the first half. The second half was very scrappy but Englands defence & keeper did well to keep USA at bay.

I know some may scoff at ladies football but for me it was a great night out.

fair play for going to the game and being so positive.

I'm sure in connection to the highest paid male stars the girls may not be the same standard and excitement,
but many would be useful additions to any of the clubs lower down the ladder.

sure the day will come when a female player of the ilk of rooney, ronanldo, messi etc will set the stage alight and begin the argument proper for mixed teams.

Not sure many older fans will agree with ladies playing, but it is really that long ago that Black players were few and far between, yet now many are essential players and even sometimes the stars of their clubs.

I do take an interest as i worked with Casey Stoney's mum, who couldn't have prouder of her daughters success...
(Just a shame she won't get the wages the male players get....
sure mum would have help managed to spend some of the millions coming in.... ) )

But success breeds success, so maybe in years to come the game will generate similar rewards.

As usual Jaz mate you have formed the words I could not. I really enjoy womens football as I have never really been a fan of the male game simply becuase I grew up in the times of violence. There is swearing on the pitch but the female game is very technical and fair and most of the refs I've met so far prefer to referee the womens matches.

No they don't swap shirts and no men in the changing room. [-x

There was talk a while ago of the England womens manager (who is also a women) of actually leading a Premier/Championship football team. She has a better record than any of the latest male England football managers. I would have thought that the women would have deserved a better ground than Brisbane road. How about White hart Lane or the Emerates.

You are right mate. The ground was not what I'd thought of as an international match venue but it was handy for me.
The next major womens match is at Coventry, i think, and the tickets will be a lady each which is a cheap night out. It is all about getting bums on seats at the moment so tickets are dirt cheap or free.
